Where 4:5 is used
- Prints and frames: 8×10 and 16×20 are both 4:5, so one file prints either size. 11×14 looks close but is a different shape (11:14).
- Instagram: portrait posts are 4:5, usually uploaded at 1,080 × 1,350 pixels.
- Large-format film: 4×5 inch sheet film, the classic large-format size, has the same shape.

Is 8x10 a 4:5 ratio?
Yes. 8 ÷ 10 = 0.8, the same as 4 ÷ 5. So are 16×20 and 4×5.
What is 4:5 in pixels?
Any size where width ÷ height = 0.8: 1,080 × 1,350 for Instagram, 2,400 × 3,000 for an 8×10 print at 300 DPI, 4,800 × 6,000 for 16×20.
Is 4:5 the same as 5:4?
Same shape, turned on its side. 4:5 is portrait (taller than wide), 5:4 is landscape, like a 10×8.
Is 11x14 a 4:5 ratio?
No. 11 ÷ 14 is about 0.786, a little narrower than 0.8. A 4:5 file in an 11×14 frame leaves thin white bars or needs a slight crop.
